I found this cute little side table at the thrift shop a few days later and thought they would make a nice pair~
Although most of the table was wood, the top was laminate. That meant I couldn't stain the stop but would have to paint it. Since it had a slick top surface, I used this good stuff~
It says sanding isn't necessary, but I still gave the whole thing a nice sanding.

That's right... I woke my spray gun up from winter hibernation...it was actually warm enough to spray~ 58 degrees! I was giddy!!!
I used the same paint as was used for the base of the coffee table, Sherwin Williams "Creamy." After that I distressed it and then antiqued it by wiping on (and then alot off) Minwax Dark Walnut stain.
I wasn't too worried about getting the stain to look just perfect because I knew even more would wipe off when I applied the finishing wax the next day.
I buffed it to a nice shine using a cloth.

Yay for the sprayer...where do you do your spray painting? I can see a peep of your mask, looks the same as mine...3M? Works great but hot to wear, well in the middle of summer it is anyway!
I had a huge day spray painting today, I think I may have killed our back lawn...oops! I need a spray booth...

Very nice Kim and I see you got yourself a new can of primer, ha!! I love the way the stain looks on top of the white. Whenever I've done it over white using regular glaze it just looks dirty. I am going to give this a try. Have a great weekend!
Beautiful!! The end table is perfect for the coffee table and they look like they were part of an original set! The glaze is gorgeously perfect! I agree with Sue, that when using just stain, it can sometimes become dirty looking or splotchy...not yours! Perfect!

I am finishing up a pair of tables almost exactly like this! I used the same color too! Yours looks beautiful! I didn't glaze mine and now I am wishing I had, just gorgeous!
I love how that turned out! I am thinking of buying a new kind of spray gun. I've been using the Wagner control spray that I had to order online since Lowes doesn't carry it any more. It works good but I think I'm ready for the next step. I watched the tutorial online for the sprayer you're using. It looks super and pretty easy to use & cleanup is a breeze! I'm not sure where to buy it locally for a good price. Any ideas? thanks Nancy

I love it! The coffee table is fantastic also. I've never used Minwax stain as a glaze. Do you prefer is to Ralph Lauren's faux technique or Valspar's antique glaze?
Love the transformation, Kim! I'm so jealous you have a paint sprayer! I have one of those thingies that you add to a can to help you spray, it wants to be a paint sprayer like yours when it grows up! ha!

You newly painted table is lovely. The top of it may have been leather at one time. I had a table much like yours (the "before" view)..... my husband and I bought it when we married 47 years ago. Tonight I have seen two items from that era that ladies have redone. ......I am feeling rather old...LOL...just kidding. I think you are most creative and I hope you enjoy your table a lot.
They both turned out great and to find the end table to go with the coffee table so well was wonderful!
