I hadn't yet refinished a previously painted piece, so I wasn't aware of the fun that was in store for me! After I started sanding, some of the paint began to peel away, so I realized I probably couldn't just sand away the shine, but that I would have to do some serious work and scrape as much of the paint off as I could.
Here is the desk partway through - I spent hours just getting it ready to prime! I never did get ALL the blue off. There will always be some hiding underneath this-
After priming, I painted it with Valspar Woodlawn Charm, distressed, glazed with black Ralph Lauren glaze, and wiped on a poly sealer. The previous knobs were replaced with these cute ones from Hobby Lobby - 50% off!
Then I lined the drawers with this cute black and white paisley paper.
I was happy with how it turned out!
