You're Going to do What with My Coffee Table???

Just before I sprayed this guy, I remembered to take a before picture.  :)

I sprayed it with a $5 mistint from Lowes.

After a light distressing, I glazed with black RL glaze~

I sealed the table with two coats of  Minwax Paste Finishing Wax~
My chalk paint waxing brush made it a breeze~ so much better than cheesecloth or regular cloths because you can really lay down a nice thin coat of wax with this fabulous brush!

*Update:  After Maya played with her My Little Ponies on the table top, I could see scratches in the wax.  I decided to pull all the wax off using mineral spirts, which works great, by the way, and sealed with polycrilic spray instead, to make it more durable.  :)  Of course, if you read the end of the post you'll see it really didn't matter...

Here's the before again~

All fixed up~

*Now, here's the kicker...the nice older couple who bought the table from me planned to 1- REPAINT it a different white (covering up all the distressing and glazing work, my friends) to match their fireplace hearth, and then 2- CUT the table in half and place on either side of the fireplace...SAY WHAAAT???   Now that's just brutal.  :(

Have a great Thanksgiving holiday!!!

oh i HATE when that happens!!!!!!! it looks lovely now at least! you never have to see what the do.
what always kils me is when someone wants to buy a dresser from my website and have merepaint it and they don't understand why it will cost them another $150 to do that!

WHAT THE???? who does that? It looks great good work, we know how much work it take to transform a table into a lovely.. and to just cut it in half... people are silly.

say what?? haha! that is so strange when you've spent so much time on something and someone who buys it says, i'm going to do this and this! it makes you wonder why the heck you cared so much on making it 'perfect!'

Was this a commissioned piece? or something you had and just painted it to sell?

I guess what I'm saying is, everyone has something creative going on inside...Your's happens to be making furniture look beautiful.

that older couple, well, their 'something creative' involves beautiful furniture, a jigsaw, and need for the table to be in two places at the same time! Ha!

either way, the table looked great. Now it will be twice as lovely!
enjoyed your post.

I wouldn't have sold it to them! I love it the way it is. And I have the same problem that Cassie does sometimes! I'm not going to repaint something for free when I already did it!

You did a great job. I like when people don't tell me what they are doing with my stuff I paint!

Okay back up. :) While the end of your post was a punch in the gut I'm still thinking about what you said earlier. You can remove wax with mineral spirits? Could I remove annie sloan wax this way too? Can I do it on some wax that refuses to dry/harden? I'm DIEING. I just talked to a consignment shop owner who agreed to sell my furniture and I have a table I want to sell but my wax isn't drying. I know I must have put it on too thick, but now I just want it off so I can use some poly!!!

I love how long the table is. It's unusual to find tables that long.
