When I found this set on Craigslist, the gentleman selling it said it was antique and solid wood. Not so, my friends, not so. It was vintage at best, and I'm not sure there was a solid piece of wood to be found. The fronts of the drawers were actually made from plastic. I figured this set would be a great test to see how well chalk paint really adhered to anything. :)
I painted them in Provence CP, and used Old White as a trim color. I lightly distressed and then waxed with clear and dark wax. The chalk paint worked like a charm!
This is how they turned out~
Happy Holidays!!!

Just beautiful Kim! Sometimes chalk paint really comes in handy!I have that very same dresser waiting in my garage. And by the way, my car actually made it into the garage last night too - yeah!
I've been there with some of those French Provencial pieces too. They painted up beautifully though! You gave them a whole new life!
Just lovely, Kim! Love the color you chose, and the drawer lining is gorgeous!
don't you love those people who try to tell you pressed board is solid wood? um... we may be girls but we aren't stupid.

Chalk paint is the BEST for these projects! The set turned out so great!

This does look fantastic. I love that blue! You have posted in a while, hope you are ok.
I love this set and the color! What did you use/where did you get the drawer liners?
Even though it's not wood it looks great in blue.

looks beautiful! I hope you didn't pay a arm and a leg for it. I'd of started low balling him to get a price that reflected the real worth.

Was the top of the dressers formica? If so, how did you get the paint to stick?
I have the same set but it is vintage made of solid wood.
