Terrible pic, I know! I've got so much furniture in the garage I had to climb over and on top of pieces just to get a shot of the desk! :)
After sanding, I drug the desk inside to be primed since it's SO cold here! Maya really wanted to help! Don't worry, we were using the Kilz Clean Start 0 VOC primer for this project! :)
I decided to finish up the last of my turquoise paint. There was just enough! I know, SOOO 2010! :)
I did add a tiny bit of a seafoam color, too, just to tone down the turquoise a little.
I used my little roller that has been hanging out in the fridge since before Christmas (just wrapped in a sandwich bag and a plastic sack).
After two coats of the turquoise I glazed with RL black~ (of course!)
I finished it off with two coats of Minwax Wipe-On Poly.
The inside of the drawers were painted the same color, and then lined with my favorite wrapping paper from Hob Lob~
Mod Podge tips here.
The seriously ugly wooden pulls were replaced with these cuties from HL (1/2 price!)~
I had to drill 21 new holes for these babies. My husband bought me my very own set of drill bits. They are just for wood and have a tip that digs into the wood just a little so that the bit doesn't walk around when drilling~
Pretty cool!
The screws needed primed and sprayed black. My assistant, Maya, put the screws in styrofoam to make spraying a cinch!
Let's have a look at the before~
Here's the desk, all fancied up~
A little peek inside~

I have no words...just drool! Love it!
Love love love it!! Who says you have to leave turquoise in 2010! What a great color!
As always, beautiful!!! You do such a great job with ALL of the finishing touches! And I love the pics of your helper too!
It's beautiful (and I totally disagree that turquoise is so 2010 - ha ha - at least I'm still lovin' it in 2011). It really came out great. Nicely done!
Kim that looks so beautiful. I love the black glaze over the blue. Very Tiffany and Co.

Sooo pretty. I would have not thought to paint it that color but it works nicely, especially with the hardware. Thanks for sharing. You are always full of great ideas.

Wow! The color is fantastic! Honestly, though, if I had seen that piece (from the before shot) I would have just passed it by! Way to have a great eye!
I love the desk. What a good idea to use styrofoam for the screws, I have never thought of that! I have a very similar desk in my garage~somewhere
Such a sweet little helper too!
That is seriously gorgeous!! i love the color!
OOOhhhh, I am loving this desk!!! The drawer liner is Totally FAB! Great Job. Paula <3
Love the color and the inside of the drawers!
Another great finished piece. I am always amazed at the transformation of your pieces. I wasn't aware that you had gotten your own drill bits!! Your carpenter/painting shop continues to grow its inventory. Maya is such a wonderful helper. She truly loves anything that resembles a "craft" project.
Beautiful!!
That is darling! What a great transformation. Your daughter looks like she was in heaven. Little helpers are the best. I love the wallpaper interior, it gives it that extra wow.

I love this desk!!!!! It is amazing. May I come and steal it? I have a waterfall buffet that was my great grandmother's. I just can't bring myself to re-do it though.
I love that blue color! Great job. Looks amazing!

Imagine me singing "awe-some!" It's amazing what you can do with furniture. I mean YOU! It's wonderful. Love it!
Gorgeous! Love the color.
The color and the glaze are perfection! Totally revived!
I love this! I never knew this style was called a waterfall.
Do you sell your finished furniture?
good job, really like the drawers...very nice.
You crack me up . . . I'm also guilty of having rollers & brushes in ziploc bags for-evah! It works, though, doesn't it?
Love the desk. Especially the slightest bit of black antiquing. Just perfect! The liner? To die for!
Would love for you to stop by this weekend and link up to Passion for Paint!
I love it!! And I'm in love with that black glaze :). Great Job!!
Looks fabulous!!! I think I have that same desk out hiding in my garage. I may just have to dig it out & redo it. You have inspired me.
Turquoise will never be out of style! Haha I love it so much I'd use it over and over way past 2010... and the color you used has the perfect subtle hue. I love it!
Hi Kim- Just found your blog for the first time. Love what you do to furniture! I have some pieces I want to do, and I want them to look like yours! Question: I read how you did the gray French provincial chest. Did you do the same process with the turquoise dresser in this post?
Melanie
Kim, I love the turquoise and your little helper is too cute! Funny, the climbing over furniture in your garage, sounds way too familiar. You are amazing at what you do. Keep 'em coming!
Hey Kim - another beauty over her. Love the waterfall style and your choice of color is beautiful.
Great Job... So tired of seeing white everywhere in blog land. Love the color, not so 2010 in my opinion.
Beautiful transformation! I love the lining in the drawers.
Absolutely wonderful!!! Loving that color even if it is soooo 2010.
Wow, I love this color and your glazing is fabulous. So cute to see your daughter (and the metal marks from the roller that you smoothed out when she wasn't looking) joining in! What a great Mom.

Holy cow - I'm sitting at that desk! Well, almost. Mine is made of walnut with brass handles and is in fairly good condition. I keep saying I'm going to refinish it but after almost 30 years, I'm kind of doubting that will happen.
Oh my! This turned out beautifully! I am going to be refinishing a waterfall buffet sometime soon, any suggestions for sanding a waterfall piece?
Sandy,
Her makeover looks outstanding...love the drawer liners! Thanks for coming to my NTT party.
Blessings,
Linda

What a great job that you and your little one did.
Beautiful color, great touches like the paper inside! Thanks so much to linking up to Beyond the Picket Fence.
Great job. Can't wait to see your next project.
Very, very pretty!
You murdered a piece of Art Deco furniture, which had a veneer of wood that is now very expensive and was intended to be seen for its beautiful grain accentuated by varnish. The look is supposed to be somewhat masculine, with parallel lines and linear pulls contrasted by the warm glow of wood, but is now feminized with blue paint, completely unidiomatic handles, and curly-q prints in the drawers. It is such a shame that this desk didn't go to owners who cared more about the history it represents.
